Your search preferences strictly control who is allowed to appear in your personal Match and Discover feeds. Luxy does not override your filters: if no one fits your exact criteria in your area, the app will explicitly ask you to loosen your restrictions rather than showing you random profiles.

If you are seeing profiles outside of your set preferences, it is entirely due to incoming activity on your Likes, Messages, or Visitors tabs. Here is exactly why this happens:

Your Profile is Public:

By default, standard profiles are visible to the wider Luxy community. While your filters dictate who you want to see, they do not hide you from other members.

You Match Their Filters:

If another member has broader search criteria and your profile matches what they are looking for, they will see you in their feed. If they visit your profile, send you a message, or "Like" you, their profile will appear on your activity lists, even if they do not fit your personal age, location, or income filters.

If you really do not want to be seen, you can enable Private Mode:

1. Go to your Settings.

2. Access Privacy.

3. Toggle on 'Hide My Profile'.

Once enabled, your profile will only be visible to Luxy members you "Like" or send a message to first. However, we do not generally recommend this since it will significantly cut down your profile exposure and hide you from others using the Match and Discover features.
