No, income verification on Luxy is entirely optional. While not mandatory for joining, verifying your income (over €200,000 annually or significant assets) boosts your profile's visibility within the Luxy algorithm. This verification, coupled with identity verification, builds trust among other members and signals high-quality status. Increased visibility improves your chances of connecting with compatible users. However, you can use Luxy perfectly fine without income verification.

If you come across a profile you want to block or message with someone you want to block you can do one of the following:
1. When messaging with them, tap the "flag" icon in the top right corner and select "Add to blocklist".
2. When coming across their profile either tap the "flag" icon in the top right corner or scroll down to "Report & Block", then select "Add to blocklist".
If you want to report the profile to us as well, please select "Block & Report" instead, since blocked people will be permanently removed from your Luxy account and vice versa.

Once you blocked a profile you are no longer able to see their profile. This person will be removed permanently from your Luxy account. The other person also will no longer see your profile and is no longer able to contact you through the app. This function is ideal if you want to avoid contact with a specific person you came across Luxy.
Please note that blocking a person is a permanent decision. This action cannot be reversed.

Luxy offers a broad variety of free and paid features. People can swipe a limited number of profiles for free everyday and hold unlimited conversations with their matches. Since early on, Luxy has been a target but has been facing from last year an increasing amount of attempts of people with untrue intentions. Professional fraudsters trying to get access to existing verified accounts that have been created with the same credentials as leaked on other services to scam our users. By trying to take over control of these verified accounts, they are given the impression of being convincing and trustworthy with the goal to get in contact with real users to get them off-platform to defraud them.

Luxy detected increasingly attempts from groups in South Asia, such as Cambodia, Laos, Thailand or Myanmar. Please be careful when deciding to communicate off-platform with other people and the conversation gets non-dating related.

To add content to 'About My Match,' tap the section and either use our suggestions or write your own to share what you're looking for.

Luxy offers a video dating feature to help members connect on a different, more personal and direct level. Video Dating on Luxy allows singles to connect with real Luxy members in real time. A special matching algorithm connects you directly with available people. The conversation length is up to you. If you want to have it more organized, you can send people also an invitation to video chat first, giving the person time to prepare. You can connect with people on Luxy via video even before a match has been made, offering a more personal way to get to know each other. To make most of it, users can upgrade to Video Star.

Luxy provides users with profile recommendations on the feature 'Match'. These recommendations are based on specific user preferences such as gender and age ranges but also cover specific interests everyone can set up and their profile texts, specifically in 'About Me' and 'About My Match'. Luxy shows profiles around your area to you but also recommends people from further away if we think you fit.

1. Swipe to match. On the Match page, you can swipe right or tap the Like button on a profile, and get matched once they Like you back.

2. Send BLACK Message . The recipient can choose Like or Pass on their screen and once they Like you or reply the message, you are matched!

Yes, you can send them a BLACK Message, wait for them liking you back and then converse. Otherwise, Luxy is based on mutual likes. You can only message a person when they become your "Match".

Yes, you are able to delete a message on your device. However, it will remain visible for the other person. You can’t recall a message.

Scroll down to the bottom of their profiles > Tap the Flag icon > Choose Unmatch. Or, to find the Flag icon on the chat page, choose Unmatch.

You will not see their profiles after you unmatch them.

Go to the Messages page > Input your keywords to the search bar > Search. You can search among names of your Matches.

New Matches are those who have recently matched with you. Once you start the conversation, they’ll be categorized and appear on the normal list below.

Selective Dating is a feature on Luxy. Besides pairing singles based on theor profile, it takes interests that need to be selected into account. Up to 4 matches are suggested every day which can be contacted.

ChatBoost is a feature that allows a 'Greeting' message automatically to be sent to multiple matching newcomers at the same time. This feature is available on the "Discover" page on Luxy. ChatBoost is a great way to get in contact with more people since at least 100 people every day will receive the specific Greeting. Once they choose to reply, they appear in a person's message list as matches.

Your location is set automatically by using your phone's GPS or "location services" feature. If your location is not shown or does not update when you move, you should ensure that Luxy is allowed to access your location in your device's privacy settings. It cannot be modified manually. However, you are able to go to the More page > Settings > Privacy > Hide My Location to hide it.

Go to the More page > Settings > Account & Security > choose Email > Tap Verify.

Go to the More page > Settings > Phone Number > Tap to send the verification code > Enter the code > Verify.

Go to the More page > Settings > Tap Log Out.

iOS Users

Go to the More page > Settings > find "Account & Security" > tap "Disable My Account". By doing so, your account will be removed from Luxy permanently.

Android Users

Go to the More page > Settings > Scroll down to "Disable account" > Select "DELETE Account". By doing so, your account will be removed from Luxy permanently.

4. You have disconnected your Facebook account with Luxy and created a new account with it

The web version of Luxy has been temporarily taken offline due to security upgrading. We want to ensure that our users and their data are protected best from any possible harm, and therefore are undertaking the work that is necessary for the website version of Luxy.

We have noticed that due to data leaks on other platforms, Luxy being targeted to make use of the obtained information. Professional fraudsters trying to get access to existing verified accounts that have been created with the same credentials as leaked on other services to scam our users. By trying to take over control of these verified accounts, they are given the impression of being convincing and trustworthy.

To eliminate any possible risk, Luxy has taken immediate action as soon as these irregular login attempts were detected.

Besides others, we took the website user center of Luxy temporarily offline to provide a secure and reliable overall platform experience for our users. We take the safety of our users very seriously, and this upgrade is part of our ongoing commitment to protecting our users and their information. The data leaks described above only occurred on other platforms, not Luxy. Be assured that your data on Luxy is and remains safe! Read more here.

In the meantime, website users of Luxy can use the official Luxy App, available on the App Store and Google Play.

The Luxy App does not only offer a wider variety of features, it is also equipped with a wider range of security control and makes it easier for users to verify their accounts, providing a carefree place to meet other singles.

In general, all users are free to edit their name when creating their account. If your account was created with a Facebook account, you can contact the customer service representative in the app to edit. Otherwise, you are suggested to upgrade your account to access this feature.

The app language will adapt to your system language, which you can change in your Phone Settings. If the app language doesn’t adapt to your phone language, it means this language is not supported by Luxy.

The app updates your location from time to time, and doesn’t monitor it constantly. If you travel, the new location on your profile may not be updated in real time. You can restart the app to trigger an update of the location.

To set your location on Luxy, please:

1. Go to the phone Settings and find the Luxy app

2. Allow Luxy to access your location information

It is possible that some small areas are not able to be recognized by the GPS service.

This may happen due to the following reasons:

1. Your main profile picture has been rejected. Please wait for the approval or upload a new picture to see if anything changes.

2. Some information is missing. Please double check your profile.

We review all photos to maintain a safe and positive community.

Your photo may have been rejected for one or more of the following reasons:

1. Image Quality:
The photo is blurry, unclear, overexposed, poorly lit, or is a screenshot with distracting borders. Ensure your photo is high-resolution and clearly shows your face.

2. Content:
The photo may have contained more than one person, added text, significant alterations that changed your appearance, indecent or violent content, suggestive material or other questionable content.

We reserve the right to reject photos for reasons not explicitly listed above to maintain community standards.

Tips for Photo Approval:
- Use a high-quality, recent photo where your face is clearly visible.
- Avoid blurry images, dark shadows, and filters.
- Take a close-up or headshot as your primary photo.
- Maintain a neutral or pleasant facial expression.
- Your photo should only feature you; avoid including other people or distracting backgrounds.

You still may experience profile visitors for the following reasons:

1. You’ve liked someone and that person just visited you back.

2. You’ve sent gifts to someone, and your profile was displayed on that person’s gifts list.

3. System delay. Try restarting the app to see if the switch for Hide Profile is disabled.

Your photo will be rejected if:

1. Your face is not visible. Please make sure you take off any mask, sunglasses or hat which might cover your face.

2. Your selfie doesn’t match the one you uploaded.

3. Our system can’t recognize your main photo uploaded.

To maintain the quality and integrity of the Luxy community, all new profiles undergo a review process by the Luxy Team. This ensures alignment with Luxy's standards and that profiles meet the expectations of our quality nature. As part of our commitment to authenticity, Luxy verifies profile pictures. Verified profiles are distinguished by a prominent blue checkmark icon, providing members with assurance of genuine identity and enhanced confidence in their connections.

Our algorithm recommends you primarily people around you but also profiles further away if it thinks you are a match. You can check your filters and lose some restrictions to view more recommendations.

Outside of metropolitan areas, it's also possible that we don’t have more new eligible users based in your area. Leave us feedback to help us improve.

You can reset your search criteria to see if anything changes.

Your own set search criteria will only result in the profiles you receive on the Match / Discover feed. It won’t limit others to visit your profile. If this is not the issue you’re facing with, please contact us for more help.

This happens may because that your main photo is rejected. You can go to the Profile page to check if it’s on pending. Your Boost will be restarted automatically once your main photo is approved.

Usually there are three reasons behind this.
1. Double check your preference settings by tapping the icon in the top left corner on the page you are viewing profiles. Adjust your age range accordingly and scroll down to see your location. Once adjusted, click "done" to confirm the changes.
Luxy automatically obtains your current location and uses it as primary location. Luxy BLACK and Platinum members are able to add two more location preferences.
2. On the feature "Match", Luxy recommends you people from and around your location first. However, you still might come across profile from further away if Luxy thinks you might fit.
3. Check if the specific profile actually filled out their profile correctly. Sometimes, members may select the wrong gender, or their age may appear inaccurate. If you notice this, please report the profile so our team can review and resolve the issue.

There might be several reasons why this happens.
First, ensure that all of your filters, such as the age range and location, are correctly set and saved. Second, on the feature "Match", Luxy recommends you people from your current location first but also shows you singles from further away if we think you fit.
Additionally, sometimes, Luxy members may accidentally select the wrong gender or date of birth. If you come across these cases, please report the profile so our team can take a closer look.

Please check if your internet connection is good, and try relogging into your account to load the pictures.

Please check if you are using our latest version. Make sure that your internet connection is good. Restart the app to see if they’re loading.

3. You’ve changed devices

Messages are stored locally on your device. If you reinstall the app or change the login devices, messages won’t be transferred or restored. They can’t be recovered.

Please check if your internet connection is good. If you would like to send messages to someone you haven’t matched with yet, you’ll need to use BLACK Messages.

Please restart the app to see if they show up on your screen. If you still cannot find them, please contact the Luxy support team for help.

You can try troubleshooting with the solutions below first:

1. Double check if your subscription payment was made successfully. In general, you will receive a receipt or an invoice after your payment is complete.

2. Check if you have another account on our platform. It is possible that your membership is associated with your another account based on your Apple ID / Google Play ID. Luxy collects a real-time selfie picture to verify your authenticity and congruence with your photos uploaded to your profile. Sometimes, we additionally collect at the same time (less than 3 seconds) a video selfie.

You can take a voluntary profile picture verification on Luxy. This verification picture or video selfie won’t be shown publicly on Luxy but is used to determine if the profile pictures you are using are real. Luxy might further ask for mandatory profile picture verification if we determine your profile as high-risk or if the profile is involved in suspicious activities.

During the profile picture verification check, Luxy scans your face and processes face geometry data which might be considered biometric data or biometric information in some jurisdictions.

What is the purpose of the profile picture verification?

This process helps us confirm that the verification picture or video was taken by a real person, and that it has not been manipulated or altered. The purpose of the profile picture verification process is for verification and security purposes, namely to verify your profile images in order to keep our community safe from fake profiles and possible dangerous activity. To execute the profile picture verification process, we process your facial geometry information and screenshots via our server.  

Do I have to use the profile picture verification feature?

Luxy only processes face geometry information with your consent. If you don’t want your picture or video selfie to be processed by us, you should not use the profile picture verification feature.
However, failing to use the profile verification feature may result in your inability to access or use Luxy’s services.

What third parties may have access to the profile picture verification data?

Luxy may use service providers in connection with the profile picture verification process. When you consent to the use of the profile picture verification feature, you acknowledge and agree that Luxy may share biometric data or biometric information with its service providers for verification and security purposes.

How long is the data from the profile picture verification retained?

Biometric data or biometric information is only created and retained with your consent for the duration of the profile picture verification process. Profile picture verification may take up to 30 days. This is the case when our system cannot verify the information automatically but Luxy staff has to manually review and verify it. Once your photo verification and security assessment are complete, the biometric data or biometric information is deleted.
When Luxy deletes the biometric data or biometric information following the completion of the profile picture verification process, it is permanently deleted from our systems and can no longer be retrieved.

You can delete your profile from the app by following these steps. This will publicly remove your profile from the Luxy platform and it won’t be visible any longer to anyone. For security reasons, Luxy will keep your data up to 30 days after you initiated the deletion. After 30 days, all personal data you left on our platform will be deleted from Luxy’s system.

Please note, that once a profile is deleted by a user, we are not able to recover it for reactivation. If you just need a break from online dating, you can deactivate your account. Your profile will be not visible to other users while in this status.

If your Luxy account has been restricted, blocked or suspended by the Luxy team, we are required to retain basic account information to enforce the block. Luxy retains data when required to do so for legal or regulatory reasons. This is in compliance with the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) of the EU.

Beware of profiles that are not verified and seem to be fake, requests for money, people claiming to be "out of the country" and in need of financial assistance, or other hardship stories and other personal stories that simply don't add up. People who ask to chat on a third party platform or request your phone number in the first message should be approached with precaution.

Report such profiles to Luxy staff directly. There is a team of moderators who constantly check reports and remove profiles that violate Luxy’s terms, guidelines or seem to be dangerous for our community. All reports are completely anonymous. Reported users will never know if and by whom they are reported.

Unfortunately, in today's digital landscape, fraudsters and scammers are constantly evolving and finding new ways to exploit online platforms. One of the methods they employ is attempting to gain control over established accounts by utilizing leaked data they obtain from other platforms such as login credentials.

When we detect suspicious activity, we might remove the earned badges as a precautionary measure. This allows us to thoroughly verify the profile and ensure that the activity associated with the account is legitimate.

This can happen due to the following events:

- logging onto Luxy from different devices recurrently,

- frequent IP address changes,

- being reported multiple times by other Luxy members, or

- login attempts on accounts which are inactive on the Luxy platform for a longer period of time.

Please understand that this verification process is essential under these specific circumstances to protect not only the privacy and integrity of compromised established accounts on Luxy but also the entire community from potential harm. We employ advanced technologies and work diligently to verify the authenticity of the account and the actions taken on the platform.

If we determine that the suspicious activity was indeed fraudulent, the account will be permanently banned to protect the integrity of our community.

The icons will be restored once the process of checking the profile activities have been completed and its authenticity confirmed.

During the past years, we witnessed data leaks, breaches and hacks of several large online platforms, such as these incidents:

- 419 Dating and other dating platforms
In mid-2023, it came to light that several dating platforms, namely '419 Dating’, but also ‘Meet You - Local Dating App’ and ‘Speed Dating App For Americans by MyCircle Network’ suffered from a data breach in which more than 2.3 million records of user information including email addresses, passwords, customer names and more being accessible. - Quora
Already in 2018, hackers obtained data of more than 100 million Quora users including user names, email addresses and passwords. This breach was worse for users who also linked other social media accounts on Quora, endangering these directly. Find out more.

- Yahoo
One of the largest data breaches in history, hackers got access to user data of more than 500 million Yahoo accounts. Sensitive information circulating the darknet includes names, phone numbers, email addresses and passwords. Find out more.

Account credentials obtained through such illicit means can be used by professional fraud groups to login on different online communities, including dating apps. Platforms who admitted such events are Facebook in 2019, Zoom in 2020 or PayPal in 2023.

Because many individuals reuse the same credentials across multiple websites, a compromise on one app, website or platform can compromise their accounts elsewhere, including Luxy.

How Scammers Try to Access Your Luxy Account

Scammers obtain email addresses and passwords from leaked or hacked data from other platforms. Your data is safe on Luxy, and we securely story it.

They then attempt to log into other websites or apps, using these exact same credentials again.

Luxy employs security measures to detect these attempts. If a suspicious login is detected (such as a login from a new device or suspicious IP address), Luxy will send you an email to verify if you authorized that login. This helps prevent unauthorized access to your account.

What You Need To Do To Protect Yourself

1. Check if your email has been compromised:

Visit https://haveibeenpwned.com and enter your email address to see if it has been involved in any data breaches. If it has, change your password immediately on all affected websites.

2. Change your password on Luxy, if necessary:

Go to the ‘More’ page -> Settings -> and ‘Log Out’ of your account. Then, click ‘Forgot Password’ on the login screen.

You will receive an email or SMS text message with either further instructions, a link or code to change your password.

3. Use strong, unique passwords:

Never reuse passwords across different websites. Use a password manager to generate and securely store strong, unique passwords for each account.

4. Be cautious of suspicious emails and links:

Prevent account theft by never clicking on links or open attachments from unknown senders. If you receive an email claiming to be from a service you use, check its legitimacy before sharing personal login information and passwords. If you are unsure, contact customer service first to evaluate its authenticity.

5. Review and monitor your Luxy account activity:

We have implemented various measures to detect and prevent trafficking on our platform, including using advanced technology to detect fake profiles, monitoring user activity for suspicious behavior, and providing resources and support to members who may be at risk.

With the following we want raise awareness to the wide-spread problem of human trafficking and want to provide guidance and help to potential victims and their concerned family and friends.

Human trafficking involves the exploitation of individuals, be it through force, fraud, or manipulation, often for the purpose of sexual exploitation.

Human trafficking can happen through various means, including through online platforms and dating apps. Traffickers may use these platforms to lure potential victims into situations of exploitation. They may create real profiles, pretend to have other intentions than they really have, or offer false promises of love, affection, or employment opportunities to gain the trust of their victims.

Once they have established a relationship, traffickers use threats, emotional manipulation and even physical violence to control their victims. They may force them into sexual acts, or other forms of exploitation, and prevent them from leaving or looking for help - often through psychological tricks.

Human trafficking can affect anyone, regardless of gender, ethnicity, or socioeconomic status. However, certain people are more vulnerable to trafficking due to factors such as being in a special psychological situation like having lost someone close, being forced to leave their home, or having experienced domestic abuse. Women and girls are particularly vulnerable to trafficking for sexual exploitation.

Human Trafficking can happen through manipulative and toxic relationships. It’s important that anyone educates themselves. Not only to protect themselves from falling into a possible exploitive relationship but also to spot and help family and friends who may talk about their experience.

Human trafficking does only involve kidnapping as people most associate with the term. Instead they are trapped in an emotional state in which they often see no way of escaping due to the manipulative tactics the trafficker has used.

A potential trafficked victim might:

- Seem unusually fearful of a partner, family member, or other figure in their lives

- Be limited in their ability to come and go at their own will

- Have no control of their own belongings, finances, or IDs or are in other ways financially dependent of the trafficker

A potential trafficker might:

- Use faked or to some extend real romantic interest, often extreme flattery, and promises of gifts and other rewards as a form of coercion

- Use the potential victim’s previous experience in unhealthy relationships as a way to assure them that they alone can care for the victim

- Make false promises that they can get the potential victim a career in modeling, acting, dancing, or music, which may include paying for travel expenses or funds to start their dream business

It's important to be aware of the signs of human trafficking and to report any suspicious activity or behavior. If you suspect that someone you know may be a victim of human trafficking, you need to act quick:

1. Contact the National Human Trafficking Hotline at 1-888-373-7888 or text "HELP" to 233733 or find out more about them and chat online with them here. (It’s anonymous and totally safe. They are great with individual advice and are also eager to hear about a friend in need or receive any tips about anyone.)

2. Report it to Luxy’s customer service team in-app or at support@onluxy.com

3. Report it to relevant law enforcement departments of your area or by calling the police.
